Air Force Fencing Shines at Western Invitational
The Air Force fencing team concluded its participation as the host at the Western Invitational, showcasing impressive performances on November 22-23. Competing against top-tier college programs, the Falcons secured nine victories, including three against ranked teams.
On the men's side, Air Force faced formidable opponents such as Brandeis, UC San Diego (#15), Ohio State (#5), Columbia (#1), Stanford (#11), and Incarnate Word. The team achieved notable wins against Brandeis (twice), UCSD, UIW, and Stanford.
The women's team also demonstrated strength, competing against Brandeis, UCSD, Ohio State (#6), Denison, Columbia (#2), UIW, Tufts, Northwestern (#5), and Stanford (#9). They recorded victories over Brandeis, Denison, UIW, and Tufts.
Eleven cadet-athletes from both teams achieved double-digit wins. Noteworthy performances included Melissa Kline's return with a 15-2 record in women's foil and Omar Emara's 19 wins in men's epee. The Falcons will next compete at the USA Fencing Junior Olympics in Kansas City from January 9-12.
